According to new reports, Kodak Black has just caught a big break in terms of his legal troubles. The federal gun charges he was arrested on last year have officially been dismissed, Bradford Cohen, a legal rep for the rapper revealed he had recently spoken with State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle and her team, working together to get the charges dismissed. If convicted on the felony gun charges, the rapper could have spent up to 15 years in prison.
"We both felt we had positive things on each side of the case, but we didn't even discuss that," Cohen stated."More just discussed in terms of fairness and what we thought was fair because he was charged federally with these same...well, it wasn't the same weapons because it wasn't a weapons charge in federal court, but it was the same nucleus of facts. Meaning, in federal court, he was charged with filling out a false form to obtain firearms, and in the state case, he was charged with the firearms. Because he wasn't a convicted felon, so they couldn't charge him federally for a convicted felon."
@kodakblack State Weapons Charges Dismissed. I need to talk about how this came about, because I always talk about #judicialreform and #judicialfairness . @saomiami and her team, did something alot of State Attorneys wouldn't do, listened to what is fair. The conversation we all had about #kodakblack wasn't in regards to why I thought the case was good for me or why Mrs. Rundle felt the case was good for the State. It was about what was fair and how we could both help Bill get the court ordered rehabilitation treatment. I am hard on people I feel treat my clients unfairly, but I am also ready to admit when they do something not just right, but extraordinary in my opinion. Mrs. Rundle @saomiami has gained a fan, and not because she dismissed Bills case, but because of the way she handled doing it, with compassion and recognizing that Bill isn't a lost cause, he is by no means perfect, but I know he will prevail if he gets the assistance the Federal Court Ordered and moved to a lower security closer prison. I also want to thank @legalsicario for putting us all together and for Robert Buschel Esq. @wsj @foxnews @nydailynews @nytimes @nypost @sunsentinel @miamiherald @hiphopnation @hiphopistheculture @usatoday @snipergangapparel @1804jackboy @shaunking @real_sharpton @revwon @lawyerforworkers @newtimesbroward @miaminewtimes @ebonymagazine @xxl @pitchfork #miamidadesao #miami #kodakblack #kodak #judicialreform #prisonreform #prison #justicereform #fairtreatment #hiphop #rapWelcome back to Instagram. Furthermore, Cohen revealed Kodak Black is currently being held at the maximum prison 'Penitentiary Big Sandy' in Kentucky where he has been denied access to the prison's drug program. His legal rap has now requested the rapper gets transferred to another facility, where he can get the help he needs.
