A report by Collider, suggests that a prequel to the 2001 masterpiece is being worked on at Warner Bros. Nick Yarborough has reportedly been picked by the studio to write the script for the follow-up. The film is supposed to focus on Denzel Washington's character, Alonzo Harris, in 1992, set days before the Rodney King verdict is announced. Collider says it's still in the very early stages, no director or actors have been announced.The website, however, mentions that Denzel's son, John David Washington, could be solid fit for the role of Alonzo Harris. At this point, the classic has grossed over $100 million worldwide. Denzel Washington received his second Oscar for his role as 'Alonzo Harris' in the movie, directed by Antoine Fuqua.
